If you have a company, we have a domain.Every answer is checked four ways before you see it: does it resolve, does it take mail, does a real server answer, and does the page actually talk about that company. Anything that only looks right says so.

Does the name resolve to a real address, asked of the resolver directly rather than through the browser.

Does it receive mail. Operating companies almost always do. Parked and squatted domains almost never do.

Does a web server answer over TLS without bouncing to a known parking or for-sale host.
4 · Content
Does the page actually talk about this company. The only signal that speaks to ownership, so it is weighted hardest.

Verified all four signals agree. Probable alive and named right, one signal missing. Unverified alive but the page could not be read, often bot protection. Check the domain does not look like the company. Parked / Mismatch / Dead disproved. Confidence caps at Medium when the domain was found by guessing its shape rather than looking it up, because four green signals prove a site is alive and says the right words, not that this company owns it.
